"Whenever we have them play here, people of all ages and persuasions (and inebriation levels) stop and listen...and with good reason."
- Jim Watkins, Owner of "The Mill"
"True talents. Not many bands play like [George Washington Jones] does anymore."

About
GWJ
George Washington Jones is a Jazz/Blues trio composed of guitarist/vocalist George Washington Jones, mandolin player Asher Kelsey, and bassist Patrick Cognitore. The group performs what is sometimes referred to as “roots music” – old-time jazz standards, ragtime, and a hint of country blues.
Here are a few songs from the repertoire:
“Whinin’ Boy Blues” –jazz standard by New Orleans legend Jelly Roll Morton – in the style of Hot Tuna.
“Fool’s Paradise” – Mose Allison classic jazz.
“Naima" - John Coltrane standard.
“Lazy Bones” – Hoagy Carmichael/Johnny Mercer standard.
“Cakewalk Into Town” – Taj Mahal blues.
